The police lathicharged to chase away activists of a fringe political outfit, whose activist held a demonstration outside the city airport in protest against presence of Australian cricketers in the IPL franchise Deccan Chargers.
The Deccan Chargers team, led by former Australian player Adam Gilchrist, arrived here today.
Holding placards bearing slogans like 'Australians go back', and 'Stop racial attack against Indians', the Kalinga Sena activists demonstrated at the airport.

Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds, Herschelle Gibbs and Chaminda Vaas made significant contributions as Deccan Charges defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 31 runs in the fifth match of the Indian Premier League yesterday.
Symonds blasted an even 50, Gibbs was run out for 45 and Gilchrist made 38 as the Deccan Chargers posted 190-4 in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Vaas, as experienced as they come grabbed three wickets including that of danger man Matthew Hayden as the Chennai Super Kings ended on 15

Blazing knocks from Adam Gilchrist and Andrew Symonds have helped the defending champion Deccan Chargers to a 31-run Indian Premier League win over the Chennai Super Kings.
Gilchrist belted 38 off just 17 balls before Symonds cracked 50 from 43 balls to lift the Chargers to 4-190 from their 20 overs.
The Super Kings could only manage 9-159 in reply, with Symonds completing a fine all-rounder's display by taking 2-29 from three overs.
